Are you in constant pain or has you pain become worse since restrictions with COVID -19 have come into place? In these unprecedented times many of us are adapting to our new lives living without are usually tools that we used for supporting pain. My local hospital discharged all their Physio Patients four weeks and re-booking is pending on when restrictions allow, which could be weeks. Hydrotherapy pools are shut and swimming pools where people living with pain would manage their symptoms. The increase of people living with pain has intensified with no foreseeable form of treatment apart from the usual pain killer prescription being offered.
People are being drawn to online methods of support but who and what should you be listening to? I am lucky to work with an amazing woman, Caroline Clark who is a Qualified Therapist in the Egoscue Method.
During this lockdown the added pressure of pain can exacerbate people’s anxiety (AND PAIN). So, Caroline Clarke has been running her Postural Alignment classes via Zoom. When I spoke to her she said that, “The Egoscue Method does not require her to touch a person as long as she can see the person then the method works effectively via Zoom. It also allows for her to see the environment a person is performing the exercises in and allows for adaptation of available props such as cushions”

What is the Egoscue Method?
The Egoscue Method is a form of postural therapy used to eliminate chronic pain and increase functional mobility. When trapped in chronic pain, it can seem like you’ll never feel better and be able to live the life you want—especially if you’ve tried other therapies and drug-based treatments that only worked temporarily or not at all.
To feel better, you need to focus on the source of your pain.
While most chronic pain treatment methods only address symptoms or try to deaden or mask pain, Egoscue corrects the postural issues that are at the root of your ongoing discomfort.
Your pain exists because your body is out of balance. It could be the result of an old injury, hours of sitting behind a desk or the wheel of a car, repetitive use injuries from exercise or work, or simply a postural dysfunction such as scoliosis. All of these can knock your body out of perfect alignment, causing pain, sleeping troubles, and limitations.
The Egoscue Method combines a therapists’ expertise with technology to assess your posture and create a personalised series of exercises that will put your body back into balance, eliminating the dysfunction that is causing your pain.
