Nutritional Therapy is the treatment or prevention of disease using dietary or nutritional supplements rather than pharmaceutical drugs. A nutritional therapist requires specialist training in anatomy, physiology, nutritional biochemistry, pathology, environmental medicine, naturopathic principles and laboratory diagnostic procedures.
Clinical nutrition is the study of the relationship between food and a healthy body. More specifically, it is the science of nutrients and how they are digested, absorbed, transported, metabolized, stored, and eliminated by the body. As a nutritional therapist I am also interested in how the environment affects the quality and safety of foods, and what influence these factors have on health and disease.
What to expect?
The first appointment lasts up to 90 minutes. During this time we will discuss your case in detail so I may establish the underlying cause / problem rather that just dealing with the symptoms. The treatment protocol will be designed to suit your individual aims and a time line will be set to allow these aims to be achievable. A follow up appointment may then be booked to monitor progress or update treatment protocol, which lasts 45 minutes. I provide a wide range of tests which can be advised as part of your Nutrition Plan or as a separate appointment. If only a test is required a 15 minute phone consultation to discuss the results is offered. Please click on this link Genova Diagnostics to see all the tests that are available. An extra cost may be necessary for tests requiring a blood serum sample.
Whats New at Eat Your Greens:NUTRITION & HEALTH
These consultations are designed for people who want to improve their
health and nutritional knowledge in general. This is different to the Nutrition
consultations which target specific illness/disease. Coaching is individualized
to suit your needs and could include:
Education on how to follow nutritionally balanced
Knowledge on how and where to source the best
ingredients that are local, in season, ethical, sustainable and environmentally
Information on how to create a toxic free home
space including advice on home and personal care products
Learning about the healthiest cooking techniques
& food preparation methods
Instruction on how to create healthy, nutritionally
balanced meals & shopping lists
Ideas for how to incorporate exercise and movement
into a busy lifestyle
Relaxation techniques & lifestyle advice
Each session will last 30 minutes and cost £25.
